Apex Predator - Chapter 13
Today, the laboratory’s network went down. Shen Dai departed his shift early because it needed to be checked and fixed, which was unusual. Because he had been acquainted with Aunt Lan, he would occasionally suggest certain meals he like. He wants to sample the Qu family’s chef’s good talents after eating takeout for several days.
He sensed an odd aura as soon as he entered through the entrance of the Qu home.
In the living room sat a lovely, stylish lady with a sophisticated demeanor. She was dressed in a black gown with a sparkling pearl necklace. Her lovely hair was meticulously arranged behind her head. She was high-maintenance and couldn’t disguise her intellect, like a noblewoman from an oil painting.
Shen Dai could tell by the look on her face that this was Qu Moyu’s mother.
As soon as he walked into the room, everyone gave him a weird look that was difficult to define. It was as if he had inadvertently intruded into their race, as if his being here was unexplainable.
Despite knowing many individuals in the room, when the woman emerged as the master with her movements, the magnetic field of the entire area altered to encircle her.
“Shen Dai, correct?”” She gave a slight grin.
“Hello,” Shen Dai said with a small bow, “Madam Qu.”
“Come sit down.”
Shen Dai rarely sat on the sofa in the living room. The ostensibly rare cream-colored leather appeared to be easily soiled. He’d been carrying the bag on his back since University, and while it was robust and simple to use, it was filthy. He sat down and placed his backpack at his feet.
Uncle Heng and Aunt Lan both wore worried expressions on their faces, he saw.
“You’re 27?” Madam Qu’s sharp eyes swept up and down as they immediately assessed him. You appear to be pretty youthful, like a college student.”
Shen Dai grinned.
“Do you work at a research institute?” It is tough to get admission to the Xingzhou Research Institute. Are you a doctor or a master?”
“Master, I’m preparing to become a doctor in the next two years.”
“It’s incredible for an omega to achieve this. Who else is related to you?”
“Only my grandma.” In his heart, he had already declared his absent father dead.
“Oh,” Madam Qu said, taking a cautious sip of tea. “How high is your pheromone level?””
“B-level.”
“Oh, it’s not high,” Madam Qu says, her voice gentle and kind, “it’s almost impossible to produce a top-tier alpha.”
“Yes.” Shen Dai will not spare a peek at an omega’s pheromone level, because omega levels differ from alpha levels. The ability to reproduce takes up a substantial part, whereas physical fitness, intelligence, skill, and hereditary illnesses, which are vital to every human being, have become non-essential qualities. Unfortunately, throughout human history, the importance of omegas has been linked to fertility. He believes he is brighter, healthier, and more conscientious than other individuals. Although the instability of his glands results in lesser fertility, he is unconcerned. He doesn’t agree with this grading process, thus he doesn’t feel inferior because of it.
“Do you not care?” Madam Qu said, astonished by Shen Dai’s uncaring expression.” GzmJal ”
“I don’t really care,” Shen Dai said, my low pheromone level having nothing to do with your Qu family.
“I know you and Moyu aren’t in a normal marital relationship, but you’re still living together,” Madam Qu grinned. When kids see one other so regularly, it’s natural for them to have some thoughts. Furthermore, Moyu has always been…” She used an implied phrase, “Attractive.”
It was, as predicted, another one who came to beat him up. Do they honestly believe an S-level alpha can be lured or pushed on? These anti-theft tactics nearly pushed Shen Dai’s feelings of embarrassment and discomfort to the surface. He did not do anything after three months of marriage with Qu Moyu, despite being warned either overtly or indirectly by Lawyer Chen, Qu Moyu himself, You Baiyue, Uncle Heng, and Madam Qu. They cautioned him from wanting the person he was far from foolish about.
True, he is unworthy, but he did not have fantasies.
When his self-esteem was assaulted, he could only console himself by saying, “It’s just a way of making money, it’s not embarrassing.”
Uncle Heng and Aunt Lan give Shen Dai a reassuring gaze. Shen Dai nodded nearly inaudibly. “I respect President Qu very much,” he continued, looking Madam Qu in the eyes. We shall only have an em, ploy, ment, re, la, tion, ship, whether at work or at home.”
“I don’t have any ill intentions, but this is really not a world that an ordinary omega can integrate into,” Madam Qu said, tears welling up in her eyes.
During this time, Qu Moyu returned home. His strides were quick, and the floor tiles echoed with dadadas. Except when anything is going on, people would not be in such a rush to go home.
“Mother.” When Qu Moyu saw Madam Qu, he corrected his breathing, “Why are you here?””
“My son got married and nobody told me,” Madam Qu said, delicately tucking her dropping hair behind her ear. Can’t I visit my daughter-in-law?”
“Go back to your room first,” Qu Moyu said to Shen Dai.
Shen Dai was ready to stand up when Madam Qu said, “It’s all right, sit and chat.”
Whoever pays him is the boss, and Shen Dai, of course, listened to Qu Moyu. He stood up, bowed, turned, and walked away.
Madam Qu wasn’t bothered by this; she simply shook her head and said, “I thought you’d marry Xiao-Yue.”
“You knew who Xiao-Yue liked, and it was always Chengchen.”
“Oh? Do you still care about like?” That tone was a little sarcastic.
This was the last thing Shen Dai heard before descending the stairs. He couldn’t help but wonder if You Baiyue had always admired Qu Chengchen. Although loving Qu Chengchen’s mark is acceptable, what Qu Moyu mentioned seemed to have a different connotation. It was the more prevalent, literal sense of “like”. Furthermore, Madam Qu’s response question was thought-provoking.
Shen Dai went back to his room, and the minute he shut the door, he felt protected. Not only was he unable to fit into the world of top-tier alphas, but his room appeared to be in a separate universe from the rest of the villa. Nevertheless, Every night, he bridged the breach between time and space to see Qu Moyu.
Shen Dai worked late into the night and was still awake. The arrival of Madam Qu did not relieve the irritability in his heart. He paused for a moment before deciding to swim in the heated pool.
He seldom goes to the swimming pool since, when he moved in, Uncle Heng advised him to avoid being in the same room with Qu Moyu as much as possible. However, Qu Moyu must be sleeping at this moment. wRrvZx
Shen Dai walked downstairs in his bathrobe. He anticipated that he would swim at least two kilometers and would be fatigued enough to fall asleep quickly.
He placed his phone on the sofa table, removed his bathrobe, and started warming up. The elevator door opened just as I finished stretching. He was astonished to see Qu Moyu go in only her swimming trunks.
Qu Moyu was likewise briefly stunned.
Qu Moyu possessed the stature of a sculpture. His muscle mass appeared considerably thicker and more substantial than when he was clothed. His lines are rich and correct, especially the area that protrudes from the elastic material. He had a fantastic body.
Shen Dai’s thoughts burnt instantaneously. He immediately grabbed up the bathrobe and put it on, but the solid-colored bathrobe made it difficult for him to locate the proper side up. The more concerned he became, the more he couldn’t find it, making him appear more disheveled.
Qu Moyu couldn’t stop himself from laughing.
Shen Dai’s face became bright crimson, as if he had been roasted. He eventually located the collar, hurriedly put it on, and then tightened his belt with a furious force that appeared to punish his foolishness.
“Are you going to go swimming in your robe?””Towel cloth is very absorbent,” Qu Moyu laughed.
“President Qu, enjoy yourself. “I’ll return to my room.”
“Are you afraid of me?” Qu Moyu said, tilting his head.”
Shen Dai avoided looking at Qu Moyu, saying, “Uncle Heng said you don’t like to be disturbed.”
“Mn.” Qu Moyu proceeded towards the water, and as he passed Shen Dai, he was reminded of the faint aroma of epiphyllums. The blooming season of epiphyllums is unpredictable and brief, and their aroma, unlike that of roses or lavenders, may build a full memory point in the hearts of ordinary people. Everyone can smell and recognize flowers, and everyone can establish a permanent scent in their head only by seeing the name of the flowers.
However, epiphyllums are so uncommon and short-lived that few individuals can tell them apart. However, as long as they smell it once, the fragrance that grows from a bud to full bloom, from simple and elegant to strong and thick, from restrained and reserved to debauched and dissolute, it appears to be doing everything just for its one time of bloom. When it blossoms, all living things must come to a halt.
With the corner of his eyes, he cast a glimpse at Shen Dai’s silky neck. It was slender and pale, which gave people the impulse to destroy it.
Qu Moyu cried out to halt Shen Dai as he approached the elevator. Qu Moyu leapt into the water with a plop as soon as Shen Dai turned around. He was frozen in his location, unsure whether he should leave or stay.
Qu Moyu emerged from the sea after a while. “Now that you can’t see it, there’s no need to be nervous, right?” he remarked, wiping his damp hair with one hand as he lay beside the pool.”
“Don’t take what my mother said to you to heart.”
Shen Dai spoke quietly, “I won’t.”
“Then you can go back to bed.”
Shen Dai turned around and took two steps before coming to a standstill. He slid his hand inside his bathrobe pocket and responded, “President Qu.”
“What?”
“Towards you, I…” Shen Dai pushed himself to look at Qu Moyu straight. “I have no ideas that go beyond the scope of the contract.” You can be confident.” So there’s no need for anyone else to come disgrace me, whether you meant to or not.
Qu Moyu locked his gaze on Shen Dai. The ripples in the water reflected into the bottom of his eyes, making them extremely brilliant and clear. He smiled weakly and said, “Okay.”
