This is no tale of redemption by any stretch of the imagination, not along those lines, anyway. Rather, it is a dark, psychological romance in which love operates as much a curse as a blessing.
Love as a Tool: The love he develops is his biggest strength and last weakness at the same time. It propels him into extreme actions and sees him blur eyed.
Survival vs. Love: The heroine’s love for him cannot be totally separated from her instinct to survive. Can she afford to love him or only run?
Conclusion: I’m Imprisoned by the Mad Dog I Raised” is a story in which love is seen not as the silken force for healing, but suffocating, destructive, and all-consuming. The psychosocial depth of the characters’ relationship infuses with constant tension, keeping the reader in suspense about the likelihood of the central figure escaping the demonic creation she accidentally brought into existence.
