“I can make you into whatever you want,” he whispered softly, his fingers brushing the hair away from her forehead. “Do you really think I’d ever take someone as abjectly poor as you seriously?” A flush of embarrassment crept over her, and she looked down, her hands clenched white. “To so much as entertain such a possibility is complete madness. You of all people know who I am.” “Yes, I do,” The hand that had been so teasingly entwined in her hair slid down, trailing over her chin to wrap securely around the base of her neck. He pulled his pressure tight, relentlessly, forcing her to lift her eyes and meet his. She hardly drew breath as he lifted her off the floor by the neck, hoisting her heels an inch over the floor. “I rule the destiny of your sister as well,” he said. He knew some crack deep within her was opening. The sparkle in the starry night sky of her eyes had been destroyed. With his palms, relaxing their clutch, he peered into the fading light of her pupils. She couldn’t help herself, and he felt it. The feeling washed over him like scalding water, something he probably wished for. It wasn’t exactly lust; that wasn’t it. It was a tangible need instead. Now that he let himself realize those thoughts, a burning need rose within him-to rip everything of hers away. “If I cannot have you, I’ll destroy you.”
